Stock Market Shall Be Indicator of Companies’ Capitalization
Rating Panorama continues to familiarize its viewers with heads of institutions who are in charge of regulating the financial market. This release will feature Dmitry Tevelev, a Head of the State Commission for Securities and Stock Market told Rating Panorama about the Commission’s plans and prospects.
The stock market has made a 15-year development way. There were adopted fundamental laws, which determine rules of game in the market and which establish regulatory environment. However, according to Mr. Tevelev, the level of market development does not meet requirements set by the society. ‘The stock market should become major indicator of capitalization of Ukrainian companies. The decisions on reasonability of privatization of strategically important companies should be made basing on stock exchange rates pertaining to the companies with state participation’, Mr. Tevelev noted.
In order to improve this state of things the Commission is preparing a number of amendments to the legislation. Specifically, a new draft on derivatives, which will considerably broaden the spectrum of instruments available in the stock exchange market has been prepared.
